POLICE are asking members of the public to come forward after a car salesman had part of his ear bitten off.

The owner of Central Car Sales at Whitegate on the White Lund Industrial Estate in Morecambe was assaulted at his garage.

Four men approached the 28-year-old salesman on the garage forecourt and started to punch and kick him before making off.

During the attack, which police said was completely unprovoked, one of the attackers bit part of the victim’s ear off.

The victim was originally taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but was transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital the following morning.

He needed eight stitches to his ear.

The attack took place Between 6.40pm and 7pm on Monday, December, 13, 2010.

DC Paul Donnelly said: “This was a particularly nasty, unprovoked attack. I don’t believe it was completely random and I believe the attackers may have known their victim.

“Unfortunately, due to the ferocity of the assault, the victim hasn’t been able to provide us with any descriptions of the offenders, but we would appeal to anybody who may have been in the area at the time, who may have seen something, to come forward.”
