A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after a fatal stabbing at a caravan park.
Gareth Mason, 26, of Westminster Road in Morecambe, will appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Tuesday).
The victim, Adam Stirrup, 28, died in Royal Preston Hospital after suffering knife wounds in an attack at Stud Farm Holiday Park in Oxcliffe Road, Heysham.
His partner, Katrina Rudrum, 26, was also found with serious stab wounds to the neck, abdomen and back.
Paramedics were called to the scene at 12.45am on Sunday.
Miss Rudrum was taken to Royal Preston Hospital then transferred to Royal Blackburn Hospital where she was initially in a critical condition. On Monday night, police said her condition had improved and was now serious but stable.
Mr Stirrup worked as a bus driver for Stagecoach in Lancaster.
Police said that the couple were long-term residents in a static caravan on the site.
Mr Mason, originally from Nottinghamshire, was arrested by officers in Stoke-on-Trent.
Detective Superintendent Paul Withers said: “This is a rare and appalling incident whereby a young man has lost his life and a young woman remains in hospital fighting for her life.
“An investigation is underway into the circumstances of exactly what has happened but I’d appeal to anybody that is staying at the caravan park or lives in the immediate vicinity that heard any commotion or witnessed any part of the incident to contact police.
“Officers working on the inquiry are searching for the knife that they believe was used in the attack but this remains outstanding at this time.”
Anyone with any information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
