Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Lancaster.

The 23-year-old victim was walking along Pitt Street when he was approached and assaulted by two men and police are asking anyone who may have been in the area at that time to come forward if they have any information.

The attack took place at around 2:30am on February 26, but police have only now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the assault.

PC Tris Hardwick of Lancaster CID said: “This was a completely unprovoked, vicious attack on this young man and we are very keen to trace the people responsible.

“I would urge anyone that may have been in the area at the time to come forward and contact police if they have not done so already.”

One of the men has been described as being around 18 and 19 years old, of slim build, with short, fair, hair. He was wearing a white top, and dark trousers.

The second man has been described as being in his early 20s, of medium build and with short, dark brown hair. He was wearing a dark, waist length jacket and a dark top.

No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
