Police are appealing for information after an 18-year-old man was assaulted in Lancaster.

The teenager was walking along Cheapside, near to McDonald’s, at around 4am on Saturday, June 1, when he walked past two men.

He then heard footsteps behind and when he turned around the two men ran at him and started to punch him in the head before running off.

Fortunately, the teenager, who is from Morecambe, didn’t suffer any serious injury, but did suffer bruising and lumps to the head.

The men are described as white, around 5ft 9ins tall and in their early 20s.

One was of medium build and the other a larger build. One of the men was wearing a t-shirt with graphics on and the other had distinctive tribal tattoos on his arms.

Sgt Guy Hamlett said: “If anybody was in the area around the time of the assault and thinks they may have seen the two men involved then I would urge them to contact police.

“I am also keen to speak with anyone who thinks they may be able to identify the men based on the descriptions given.”
