ST JOHN’S Hospice made 13 people lucky on Friday the 13th with their first-ever lottery draw.

The £750 jackpot last Friday, April 13, went to Brian Shaw who volunteers as a driver for the hospice’s day patients.

Brian, who said he and his wife “never win anything”, called in to see the fundraising team on Monday morning after dropping off two of the patients at the hospice.

He said: “I am pleased to be the first winner of the St John’s Hospice Lottery. It goes to show that Friday 13th doesn’t have to be unlucky!”

There were 12 other prize winners with the second prize winner picking up £250 and third prize winner £50.
