After last week’s look back at Morecambe’s bathing beauties, now here’s one for the ladies.

Regular Looking Back readers may recall a few weeks ago we mentioned the old TV show Holiday Time Parade, which aired from Morecambe every year during its tour around Britain’s seaside resorts from 1956 to 1962.

David Pawson from Morecambe competed in the Mr Adonis competition on an episode in the debut series, hosted from the Central Pier by MacDonald Hobley.

In David’s photo, the fine figures of men who reached the final are (left to right) Mr Rothwell from Rotherham, Eric Eastham from Fleetwood, David, Jack Park from Lancaster, unknown and Alan Robinson from Blackburn. Cheers David!

Holiday Time Parade, according to the whirligigtv website, regularly attracted audiences of 20 million and its first ever show, aired on July 14 1956, came from Morecambe. One programme from Southport was hosted by Eddie Morrell, manager of Morecambe’s Central Pier.
