Bare village is set to become the district’s first Dementia Friendly Community.
Members of the Bare Village Business Association (BVBA) voted unanimously to sign up to the scheme which means they have committed to make the community more inclusive of people with dementia.
Action will include promoting awareness of dementia in the village’s shops, businesses and services so staff are able to demonstrate understanding and know how to recognise symptoms. Chris Reed, chairman of the BVBA, said: “Bare Village Business Association are proud to be part of this great initiative. Dementia has affected many people’s lives.”
The scheme is backed by Lancaster City Council, County Council, Help Direct and Age UK Lancashire.
