A horse and carriage caused quite a stir on the Promenade ahead of this year’s return of the Morecambe Carnival.

Known as a landau, the horse and carriage was driven by Mick Gorry, a businessman from Morecambe.

Mick was there to promote the Viva Morecambe weekend, which will include The Visitor’s Sunshine Ball, the Morecambe Variety Festival and the revived Morecambe Carnival.

He will drive the landau at the front of the carnival parade down the promenade on Sunday, May 4.

Mick is featured in this week’s Visitor in the first of a series of articles called ‘Morecambe’s Finest’, highlighting some of the town’s interesting characters.

For the full interview with Mick Gorry see this week’s Visitor, out today.
