Proposals to overhaul how Morecambe festivals are funded have changed following a meeting last night.
Morecambe Town Council is still planning to commission three hand-picked festivals in 2015.
But in a change to original plans, the budget for these events was cut from £62,200 to £50,200 during a meeting of the council’s finance committee.
Councillors also suggested that private event management experts could be brought in to help them run the events.
They also confirmed that any festival costing more than £1,000 would trigger a tendering process.
These are just recommendations at this stage. A final decision will be made at a public meeting of full council at Morecambe Town Hall on Thursday, July 17.
