Police are concerned for the welfare of Gilljen Theison.

Detectives have launched a nationwide hunt for a missing woman who was last seen at Travelodge in Lancaster city centre.

German national Gilljen Theison has not been heard from since she left the Spring Garden Street hotel at about midnight on Thursday, March 20.

Some of her personal belongings have been found at the Scarthwaite Country House Hotel, Crook O’Lune, where she had been previously staying.

And her hire car, a light blue Fiat 500, was left outside the Castle Hotel on the main road in Hornby.

Miss Theison, 40, is believed to be spending a year travelling.

She is described as white, 5ft 11, with shoulder-length mousey hair and blue eyes.

Police have circulated Miss Theison’s details to forces across the country and to ports and airports and are liaising with the authorities in Germany

Officers are also keeping Miss Theison’s family updated with developments.

Detective Inspector Bev Foster, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are growing very concerned for Gilljen’s welfare as it is now some days since she has been seen. We are making extensive enquiries to try to find her but we also need the public’s help.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen someone matching her description to get in touch. I would also appeal to Gilljen herself to contact us to let us know she is safe if she sees this appeal.”
