Tyre on motorway causes traffic chaos

A large lorry tyre was removed from the motorway after it caused traffic chaos.

Highways Agency traffic officers were called to the incident between Junction 34 Carnforth and junction 35 at 8am on Thursday, September 5.

Advisory signs were set to warn motorists of the obstruction in the southbound carriageway.

A crew of Highways Agency Traffic Officers from the Cumbria South outstation at Millness (just off junction 36) attended by 08:10am.

They brought traffic behind them to a halt and one officer got out of the vehicle and removed what was a very large lorry tyre from lane two.

The road was clear by 8.15am allowing rush house traffic to get safely on the move again.
