Two injured in Promenade crash

A car flipped onto its roof after a crash on Morecambe Promenade.

Two people who were inside the car have been taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

One of the casualties, a 60-year-old man, was initially trapped inside the vehicle.

He was freed by a fire crew. His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The other casualty was a woman who was taken to hospital with chest pains.

The accident happened at around 3pm on Thursday on Marine Road East.

A police spokesman said the vehicle involved, a red Honda Jazz, collided with a parked car.

An eye-witness said the car, which was heading towards Morecambe, then hit the kerb and spun over onto its roof.

The Promenade was closed off in both directions following the crash but re-opened shortly afterwards.

Anyone who witnessed the incident should contact police on 101.
