Network Rail has imposed speed restrictions on some its routes due to high winds forecast today.
The speed restrictions may mean slightly longer journey times.
The affected routes will be:
Skipton – Morecambe / Carlisle
Darlington – Newcastle
Newcastle – Morpeth and Chathill
Bishop Auckland – Saltburn
Middlesbrough – Hexham via Sunderland and Newcastle
Carlisle – Newcastle
Preston – Carlisle via Oxenholme
Preston – Carlisle via Barrow
Blackpool North & South – Preston.
The speed restrictions are expected to be in place from start of service until 2pm and will help to ensure the safe running of trains.
