He said: “It annoys me that we don’t have one like Lancaster and I am very passionate about Morecambe, I want to do the same thing here.

“Morecambe lost touch with a lot of things until five years ago, when it started to get better.

“The night life in Morecambe is becoming on par with Lancaster.

The singer is in the process of setting up a committee to kickstart plans.

Stuart, who also works as an Olly Murs tribute singer, hopes to have a main stage on the prom and a beer tent.

He said: “It will be something everybody can enjoy, tribute acts can take part, as well as bands, dance schools can perform and DJs.”

Pubs all over Lancaster were heaving for the festival as venues put on a programme of music from across the world, with gigs running from Wednesday night well into Monday. One of the biggest draws was Lancaster Castle, which was transformed into a mini festival site with a large music stage.
