Shoebox appeal workers are devastated after thieves broke into a warehouse and stole their delivery van.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the theft at the Operation Christmas Child base on White Lund.
The van was used to collect donated shoeboxes full of gifts, clothes and toys for needy families in Eastern Europe.
“It’s upsetting,” said Anne Wardlaw, Operation Christmas Child area co-ordinator.
“We have around 40 volunteers here and we had to go out in cars and collect the boxes on Friday.
“People have given their time for six or seven weeks and this makes you feel terrible.”
Police believe thieves forced their way in through a locked back door and stole the long wheelbase Ford Transit van some time during the night of November 28 and 29.
If you saw any suspicious activity on the White Lund estate between 3.30pm on Thursday and 8.45am on Friday please call Lancashire police on 101 or the freephone Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.
