Sheep rescued from mud at Silverdale

A ewe and her lamb had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped in mud at Silverdale.

Fire crews from Silverdale and Lancaster were called to the vicinity of Crag Bank Lane and Shore Road at 5.51am on May 24.

The crews used ropes, slings and a ‘sand lance’ (which injects water under the surface of mud to loosen its grip) to rescue the animals, which were uninjured.
