A man has been rescued after he was reported to be in danger on the rocks on Morecambe Promenade.

Police, fire crews, the Coastguard and RNLI hovercraft rushed to the scene on the rock groin opposite Northumberland Street at 12.45pm on Tuesday.

A police officer walked out to the man and escorted him back to the promenade.

Colin Midwinter, from Morecambe RNLI, said: “The man was in no immediate danger but would certainly have got into difficulty if he had ventured out any further as the mud is very soft in that area, with a number of deep gullies to trap the unwary.”
