The Carleton has been closed since 2014 but reopened for one night only on January 30 2016 for a dance music night attended by 1,300 people.

A police spokesman said it is alleged the vandalism happened some time between January 30 and March 2.

No arrests have been made but an investigation is ongoing.

Mr Bond’s long-term plan is to convert the former nightclub into flats.

He said the clean-up would cost £4,000 and he estimated the total damage and loss to be around £10,000.

Mr Bond also said once repairs were made, he would hire out the
club for more events.

The next scheduled event at the Carleton is a ‘white-collar’ boxing show on June 4. An 80s night is also planned for sometime in July.
