Overton family fundraises for epilepsy awareness in memory of Chris Wilson, 28

Chris Wilson, 28, died in his sleep while staying at a friend’s house.

He has been diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 16, but was on medication which largely controlled his seizures.

Chris’s family is now trying to raise awareness of Epilepsy Research UK, and have already raised almost £1,900 through a JustGiving page.

Chris’s mum Yvonne said: “We have set up this page in memory of our loving son and brother who was tragically taken from us at such a young age.

“Chris had suffered from epilepsy since the age of 16 and managed with his condition over the years with controlled medication.

“Chris being the happy, caring and loving person that he was never let this get in his way.

“He had a passion for cars, and loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends.

“These last two years, no more than three sleep seizures appeared, and we were told that this could be expected even on medication.

“Tragically Chris had a sleep seizure whilst stopping at friends, and never recovered, and passed away on July 14.

“This has left the whole family and friends shocked and devastated, that such a sudden death could happen to someone who seemed so happy and healthy.

“We would like to think by donating to Epilepsy Research, we may be able to save lives of others who have this condition, and we thank everyone who has contributed so far.

“We also thank friends and family for their support and kind words during this difficult time.”

Chris had worked as a kitchen technician at Hillcroft nursing home in Slyne for the last nine years, having studied catering at Lancaster & Morecambe College.

He grew up in Overton, attending St Helen’s CE Primary School in the village before going to Hornby High School.

He had a love of cars and motorbikes and would often visit the TT Races on the Isle of Man with his dad Graham.

Chris has two sisters and was also devoted to his niece and two nephews.
