The brass band concerts will take place at Happy Mount Park.

A packed programme of free brass band concerts will take place in Morecambe’s Happy Mount Park, starting on Sunday.

Featuring some of the finest brass bands from around Lancashire and Cumbria, the concerts will take place every Sunday starting at 2.30pm and will run from May 4 until August 31.

The first concert will feature Burneside Brass from Kendal.

Morecambe’s own award winning Brass Band will commence their performances on Sunday May 11.

And this year, as a special celebration of Pentecost Sunday (June 8), Morecambe Band will perform a special programme of music prepared and supported by local churches, in conjunction with Morecambe Brass Band Association, as well as their own scheduled music.

Lancaster City Councillor Ron Sands, cabinet member with responsibility for leisure and culture, said: “Happy Mount Park provides a perfect setting for the programme of concerts which has been running since the 1970s and attracting audiences reaching more than 200 spectators each week.

“But it is by no means the only fun that can be had at Happy Mount Park this summer. With the Splash Park, Happy Mount Express, new crazy golf course, bowling and putting greens as well as an adventure playground and cafe, what better way to spend a summer’s afternoon.”

The programme is supported by Happy Mount Park Catering Limited (The Café in the Park) Seating is not provided, but members of the public can take along picnic style chairs or hire a deck chair at the park. In the case of poor weather, performances may take place in the café.
