Morecambe in bloom competition
A bed of remembrance designed to commemorate the outbreak of World War One is the special category in this year’s Morecambe-in-Bloom competition.
The perennial competition for local gardeners, which last year attracted a record number of entrants, opens again this year with entry forms now available.
There are ten classes ranging from the best amateur garden to the class for under 14s
aimed at encouraging the young people of the town to develop their gardening skills.
Entry forms are available from The Visitor Information Centre at the Platform, Morecambe Library and The Green Room Coffee House, Euston Road.
Entries should be sent by Tuesday, July 1, to
“Morecambe in Bloom”

Air Ambulance charity anniversary
The North West Air Ambulance Charity is marking 15 years of saving lives this year, and as part of its celebrations is calling for supporters to send in their inspirational stories. To mark over 18,000 missions flown since 1999, North West Air Ambulance Charity is encouraging anyone who has needed or supported the charity to record and share their story on video. Celebrities, volunteers and medical crews are also being urged to participate to post messages of congratulations.
Head of Fundraising at North West Air Ambulance Charity, Jenny Haskey, said: “We want to know if we’ve made difference to you or a loved one’s life. We’d love people to record their story on a mobile phone or video camera and send it to us, so we can see what a difference we’ve made to people’s lives. “
Anyone who wishes to take part can upload their video by logging onto www.nwaa.net and follow the section on how to upload a video.
