Morecambe school deputy moves on to new head role

A deputy head at a Morecambe school has landed a job as a headteacher in Blackpool.

Steve Careless finishes at Morecambe Community High School on Friday after 19 years to become principal at Montgomery High School in Blackpool.

Mr Careless started as a Maths teacher at Morecambe High in September 1997 and also taught science and computing during his time at the school.

He became head of Maths in 2002 and deputy headteacher in 2010.

Mr Careless also organised several charity events and helped the school break three world records including the largest egg and spoon race.
