Morecambe Football Club wins Supreme Champion title at British Pie Awards

We’ve got the best pies in the land...again!

Morecambe Football Club pies won the Supreme Champion title at the British Pie Awards – the first time the accolade has ever been won twice.

Head chef Graham Aimson and his team’s tasty chicken, ham and leek pie was named ‘Best Pie in Football’ while the club’s Bramley apple pie took the top honour for the second time in four years.

Graham praised the collective effort by everyone associated with the Morecambe catering team, including pastry chef Jackie Simpson.

“To win the Supreme Champion in 2011 was a great honour and to do it again three years later is absolutely fantastic and testament to the work that everyone puts in at Morecambe Football Club,” he said.

Peter McGuigan, Morecambe FC chairman, said: “We were all totally blown away when we won the main award in 2011.

“We have been back winning categories every year since but never really thought it was possible to produce the ‘Best Pie in Britain’ for the second time.

“Everyone who visits the Globe Arena knows how good our pies are so for Graham and the team to be honoured in this way again is an absolutely superb achievement’

The British Pie Awards were held earlier this week in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, and saw 800 pies battle it out, including a special pie to mark 100 years since the start of World War One.
