Morecambe Bay walk for cancer charity

Walkers can trek one of Morecambe's most iconic footpaths as a route to helping local cancer patients.

The Rosemere Cancer Foundation, which fundraises to bring world class cancer treatment and services to cancer patients throughout Lancashire, has spaces left to fill to complete a team of 300 walkers prepared to tackle its Cross Bay Challenge.

The challenge on Saturday June 11 will be guided by the Queen’s Guide Cedric Robinson. The group will be led from Arnside shore at 10am over the sands of Morecambe Bay to Kents Bank – a journey of approximately eight miles and, depending on the tides, takes around four hours to complete.

It costs £10 per person and everyone signing up will receive a free bag, snack and water. There will also be coaches to take walkers from nearby Grange-over-Sands to Arnside at a cost of £3 per person, which covers the coaches’ hire charges.

Tammy Hoskins, Rosemere’s North Lancashire and South Cumbria Fundraising Co-ordinator said: “You don’t have to be a super athlete to take part. We have families walking together, as well as couples, people on their own and groups of friends and colleagues. It’s a great day out.” To sign up, download an entry form from www.rosemere.org.uk or call 01772 522913.
