Lancaster Hobbit's opening night gets standing ovation

Some 360 people attended the Dukes Theatre’s first performance on Tuesday night which received a standing ovation and the first three Saturday performances are already sold out.

A Dukes spokesperson said: “The Dukes is delighted with the reaction to The Hobbit since it opened on Tuesday with a standing ovation.

“This outdoor version of the Tolkien classic really seems to have struck a chord with people of all ages so we’re looking forward to one of our most successful outdoor seasons in recent years.”
