Lancaster firm helps Tommy Lee Jones operate on Kevin Costner

A Lancaster company has helped Hollywood A-listers Tommy Lee Jones and Kevin Costner with their latest blockbuster.

Connect 2 Cleanrooms of Halton supplied part of the set for ‘Criminal’ starring the Men In Black and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves screen legends.

One of the firm’s cleanrooms appears in the trailer for the new thriller where Tommy Lee Jones is seen operating on Kevin Costner, implanting the memories of a deceased CIA agent.

Connect 2 Cleanrooms installed the room inside an eerie abandoned warehouse.

“We’re more used to installing our cleanrooms in commercial warehouses” said Joe Govier, managing director of the company.

“When we originally supplied the cleanroom back in 2014, we were given an idea of how it would be used in the set, but to see it in the trailer is just fantastic.

“As you can imagine this has created a fair bit of excitement in the office.”

Typically used in manufacturing or scientific research, a cleanroom is a controlled environment that has a low level of pollutants such as dust, airborne microbes, aerosol particles, and chemical vapours.

Based at Riverside House in Halton, Connect 2 Cleanrooms was founded by Joe Govier in 2002.

Previously Joe worked in the medical device and pharmaceutical packaging industry.

After struggling to find a reasonably priced modular cleanroom with a quick turnaround, he realised there was a gap in the market.

Today Connect 2 Cleanrooms supplies cleanrooms to clients all over the world, including Germany, The Netherlands, Malta, Norway, Ireland, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Nigeria, Denmark, Portugal, Lithuania, Canary Islands and Angola.

Criminal is directed by Ariel Vromen and is due for UK release on April 15 2016.
