Volunteers are needed with knowledge in heritage/history, Oriental gardens, fundraising and record keeping, and someone with knowledge of arboriculture is also needed to conduct a tree survey and work with consultants on a management plan.

A copy of the draft masterplan, is available at www.lancaster.gov.uk/happymountpark. Email [email protected] or call 01524 582822 if you are interested.

Coun David Smith, Cabinet member with responsibility for parks and open spaces, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for people to get involved in the future of the park and leave behind a lasting legacy for future generations.

“We know that many local people have specialist knowledge of particular areas and we want to tap into that expertise.

“Happy Mount Park is visited by tens of thousands of people every year and is one of the resort’s most popular attractions.

“It is a tremendous success and we’re keen to make sure it continues to grow and flourish.”

The masterplan has been developed by a project group which includes leaseholders, bowlers, police, councillors, park users, and the park’s volunteer group.
