Although little has happened visibly on the former Frontierland site in recent months, a spokesman for Opus North said there were still developments behind-the-scenes and they hoped to make them public soon.

The developers had hoped to start work on site in May.

Their plan is to convert the derelict former fairground into a £17m shopping park called ‘the Bay Shopping Park’.

The Polo Tower is also expected to be demolished as part of the work.

Opus North have been working to sign up retailers and appoint a builder.

They were given planning permission in November 2014.
