Despite the bad weather at the weekend cyclists battled the elements to help raise money for a good cause.

The fun day and sponsored bike ride at Heysham Cricket Club gathered over £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society. The event was one of three fund-raisers set up by Emily Wise, in memory of her Nan, Avis Wise who suffered with dementia for six years.

Emily, 24, from Morecambe, is over the moon to have reached her target goal.

She said: “Even though we had to cancel one of the events earlier on we have still managed to raise more than our target goal. Everyone pulled together and managed to raise money for a good cause.”

One of Emily’s friends, Claire Marsland, 24, from Morecambe, raised £246 in just a week for the charity.
