A trek to Macchu Picchu in memory of a woman who passed away from breast cancer raised thousands for charity.
Lucy Farrell and her friend Julia Bradley had planned to undertake a charity trek in September 2012 but sadly Julia passed away before they could take part in the trek together.
Lucy’s dad Colin Gann0n bravely stepped in to trek in Julia’s place to raise much needed funds for St John’s Hospice as Julia had intended.
Lucy said: “Julia has been one of the most inspirational people in my life and I was proud to go and achieve this goal with my Dad that she set out for us to do together.”
In Julia’s own words: “fighting cancer shows you both the very best and the very worst aspects of life, the worst because you simply wouldn’t wish what I have experienced on anyone and the best because you have the true privilege of meeting people who get up and make a difference to the lives of people fighting cancer every single day.”
Lucy and her dad raised a fantastic £7,617 in memory of Julia, which will make a huge difference to St. John’s Hospice which cares to those with life limiting conditions, providing a caring, supportive environment for patients and their families in their time of need.
