It’s Viva Las Vegas for this Morecambe family thanks to the Eric statue, a photograph and a decorating trade magazine.
Denby Murgatroyd won £2,000 in a caption competition and is now taking his wife Kelly on holiday to America’s glitziest city thanks to his winnings.
All landscape gardener Denby had to do was have his photo taken at an iconic location wearing a T-shirt bearing a logo of top decorating firm Johnstone’s Paint.
He chose the Eric Morecambe statue, took along his pet bull mastiff Alife for company, struck the iconic Morecambe and Wise pose and the picture (above) impressed Brush Strokes magazine so much, he scooped first prize.
Ironically Denby found out about his win while he was working as a match day steward at Morecambe FC, during their match with Carlisle United in...the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy!
Kelly came up with the idea and his daughter Demi, 13, took the winning photo, so his victory was very much a family affair.
They will be jetting out to Vegas in April, where no doubt they will paint the town red!
