Lancaster MP Eric Ollerenshaw is campaigning to raise awareness of the killer disease suffered by Coronation Street’s Hayley Cropper.
Mr Ollerenshaw is chair of a Parliamentary group calling for urgent action to curb mortality rates from pancreatic cancer, the fifth most lethal cancer in Britain.
Just four per cent of the 8,000 patients diagnosed in the UK every year survive longer than five years.
Mr Ollerenshaw’s partner Michael Donoghue passed away from pancreatic cancer four years ago.
The disease also killed Apple founder Steve Jobs and actor Patrick Swayze.
Millions of TV viewers saw Hayley, played by Julie Hesmondhalgh, die last night after a battle with the disease.
