A number of events will take place to help victims of flooding across the district.

Charity organisation the Lancaster Round Table will be fundraising at the Lancaster Brewery today (Thursday December 17) for the flood appeal.

Tickets for the night at 7pm, which includes a DJ hot food and raffle, are £10 on the door.

All profits raised will go towards helping local people and businesses.

3-1-5 Health Club on Mannin Way will also be holding a flood fundraising event on Saturday December 19.

The Active Blu Team, a swim squad, and staff will see how far they can swim for 12 hours. The challenge will start at 8am and aims to finish at 8pm.

As well as the fundraising activities a helpline has also been set up by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

The helpline, 0800 904 7900, will enable anyone affected to get fast, practical help and advice on a wide range of tax problems they may be facing.

Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 4pm, excluding bank holidays.
