A biker who had to rescue his Kawasaki motorbike after getting stuck in flood waters on Torrisholme Road as called the experience a ‘nightmare.’

Michael Kitching, a biker from Ridge, had to rescue his Kawasaki motorbike after getting stuck in the flood waters.

The 57-year-old, who has been a security doorman for 42 years, said: “I was coming down Torrisholme Road towards Morecambe to go and pick my wages up and have some breakfast.

“There was a car in front of me and I didn’t see the water. That car got through but there was another car stuck.

“I followed and got stuck, I was waist high in water and my bike conked out.

“I wheeled it up the road to the bus stop and that was when the police came and blocked off the road.

“They said to me ‘is there anyone in the car’ so I waded through the water to see if there was but there wasn’t.

“I’ve actually got a rental bike so I explained to them what had happened.

“I didn’t get my wages or my breakfast! A couple across the road offered me a cup of tea though.

“It has been a nightmare, my boots are still full of water so I will go home, take my boots off and have a hot bath!”

Torrisholme Road was closed from 10am-3.15pm after heavy rain caused flooding on the road under the bridge.
