Parkinson's Books and Shells, Southport

Tucked away down a hidden side street, off Lord Street, Southport, Parkinson’s Books and Shells is certainly a curious find.

With shelves stacked full of classic books and vintage vinyls, there is a great seating area to chill out and browse through any hidden gems whilst soaking up the atmosphere.

The shop also boasts a fine collection of shells and crystals, as well as precious and unique antiquities from the ancient Greek and Roman times.

Open Monday to Saturday 10am until 5.30pm and 1pm until 5.30pm on Sundays.

Anise, Chorley

With two shops, in 39 and 61 Chapel Street, Chorley, and another in Cedar Farm, Mawdesley, Anise has gifts for all occasions.

Visitors can take their time to browse round, with novelty knick knacks, jewellery, clothing and crystals.

There are plenty of pleasant aromas, from the candles and incense oils and sticks also sold in-store.

The Chapel Street shops are open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5pm. The Cedar Farm site is closed Mondays, but open Sundays.

Heima, Lytham and Takk, Garstang

Heima, in Station Road, owned by Jo Richardson, sources individual, high quality items of furniture for the home and garden.

As each piece is individual, stock is constantly changing, providing a wealth of variety, focusing mainly on the coastal theme.

It stocks Annie Sloan Chalk Paint products and offers painting workshops. Open daily.

Jo also has a second shop, Takk, in Garstang, which houses smaller furniture and household items, reflecting county living.

This is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10.30am till 4.30pm.

Horrockses Curiosity Shop, Tea Rooms and Dress Agency, Wyre

Horrockses Curiosity Shop, Tea Rooms and Dress Agency, in Rawcliffe Road, St Michaels, is a multi-purpose one-stop shop.

Makers of classic vintage clothes, the firm also houses antique furniture. Customers can round off their trip with afternoon tea.

Assembly Rooms Emporium, Lancaster

The emporium houses an eclectic mix of stalls selling vintage, period, retro and alternative clothing, jewellery and accessories. There is also costume hire, a cafe, knitted goods, books, jigsaws and games, cards and quality gift items. Current traders include Bebe Babette, Knit Baby Knit, Bits “n” Batz, Assembled Books and Malcolm’s Place.
