A decision on who will contest the Morecambe and Lunesdale seat for Labour in the next General Election will move closer this weekend.
A final short-list will be drawn up on Saturday after all candidates are interviewed by a select committee.
Five female candidates were in the running to contest the seat, currently held by Conservative MP David Morris, as The Visitor went to press.
They are Margaret Pattison, Karen Leytham, Sarah Hall, Amina Lone and Patricia O’Brien.
Nominations close today (July 9). The preferred candidate will be announced after a vote of all Labour party members on July 25.
