DOZENS of young Morecambe fans will be unable to watch the biggest cup game in the Shrimps’ recent history after a local football league refused to move its kick-off time.

Games in the Lancaster and Morecambe Service to Youth League kick off at 2pm meaning youngsters will be unable to attend Morecambe’s FA Cup first round game against Sheffield Wednesday at 3.15pm on Sunday.

Parents have asked the league to move the games forward just one hour, but the league has refused.

Kerry Swindlehurst, whose son Jacob, 11, plays in the league, says he is “gutted” that he has been forced to choose between the game and his team.

She said: “Jacob’s been going to Morecambe games since he was three.

“It’s a really big game and lots of his team want to go down but he doesn’t want to let his friends down. He’s gutted.”
