THE chair of governors at Westgate Primary School and Children’s Centre has retired.

Joyce Roach MBE has been governor for 21 years, 14 of those years as chair.

The school said Mrs Roach has been a source of great support and encouragement for all at the school, that she always acted in the best interests of the children and her commitment and energy will be sorely missed.

Mrs Roach is also known locally under her maiden name of Joyce Warrington, one of the area’s leading dance teachers and musical directors.

The school said its goodbyes in a special assembly with a “This Is Your Life” theme.
