Join Lancaster cinema in Roald Dahl celebrations

Metamorphosis Cinema in Lancaster will host a summer of programme of films and events based on Roald Dahl’s classic books.

In the Sanctuary Room at Lancaster Library the cinema are encouraging visitors to celebrate Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday.

The team at Metamorphosis have been working on a number of art installations to transform the room at the library.

The events launch on July 27 and the film programme will be running throughout the summer holidays - includes films such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, (Wed July 27) Matilda (August 31) , Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (August 24), The Witches (August 10), James and the Giant Peach (August 3) and Fantastic Mr. Fox (August 17).

The films will be screened every Wednesday at 2pm at Lancaster Library.

Tickets are available on the door for £2, places are limited.

The team will also be delivering a number of free activities and workshops which will run after each film, suitable for 5-12-years-old.

A Big Friendly Dress Up Day will also be held at the Library in conjunction with Metamorphosis on September 13 to raise money for the Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, which provides Roald Dahl specialist nurses for seriously ill children in the UK.​

Metamorphosis is a peer driven and peer delivered lived experienced charity and non profit organisation working in Lancaster and beyond.

Their aim is to tackle barriers with unhealthy relationships with alcohol and other drugs.

Their flagship project, Open Cinema, was designed to help prevent relapse by connecting people with recovery needs to people with recovery assets.

The team aims to transform the lives of people in recovery from harmful health behaviours through the power of cinema. They provide free access to film screenings and film related events for people to socialise and support each other.

Over the past 10 months we have shown 83 films to over 1800 people whose lives have been affected by substance misuse issues.
