LANCASTER Jazz Festival comes to The Dukes on stage and screen this September.
Acclaimed European acoustic-improv supergroup Trio Libero perform at the Lancaster theatre on September 22, while in the gallery on September 18, there’s a screening of Let’s Get Lost (15), a documentary on the life of troubled jazz trumpeter Chet Baker.
The Trio Libero gig, which begins at 8pm, will be a highlight of Lancaster Jazz Festival, which runs at various venues across the city from September 15 to 23.
Trio Libero features three leading individuals from today’s jazz scene: British saxophonist Andy Sheppard, French bassist Michel Benita and British drummer Seb Rochford.
They will perform from their self-titled debut ECM album, which has received rave reviews in the national press.
From 5pm on September 18, there will be live jazz in The Dukes bar, courtesy of Swerve Trio, who’ll provide the perfect introduction to the Chet Baker film.
Let’s Get Lost (15) weaves together a fascinating series of interviews with friends, family, associates and lovers interspersed with film from Baker’s earlier life and his performances.
The film is screened at 6pm and a discussion will be held afterwards.
Tickets for Trio Libero are £18/£16 concessions.
Tickets for Let’s Get Lost (15) are £3.
