A kite buggy rider suffered suspected spinal and neck injuries after an accident on the beach near Bolton-le-Sands.

Morecambe’s RNLI hovercraft was called out to Red Bank Farmat 2.50pm on Friday, August 2, after Liverpool Coastguard received a 999 call.

The 43-year-old man had been riding his buggy on the sands with several other people when the buggy entered a gully and flipped once coming out the other side knocking the rider unconscious.

The hovercraft crew assisted paramedics in transferring the injured man from the beach to the air ambulance where he was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment, said North West Ambulance Service.
