Hayley Marie, 19, from Heysham, died after her car spun off the M6 at Barnacre, near Lancaster, on July 24 2011.

Funds for the incubator, which cost £11,256, were raised through a Just Giving online page called ‘Hayley’s Hugs’ and fundraising events.

“Hayley Marie was tragically taken from us in 2011,” said Mrs McMinn.

“Since then, all her family and friends and all those who loved her have kept her spirit alive by raising money in her memory.

“Hayley Marie was born at the RLI and she loved life and lived it to the fullest. Hayley Marie loved babies and I know she’d be happy to know that ‘Hayley’s Hugs’ is fundraising for the RLI’s Neonatal Unit.”

Sascha Wells, Deputy Director and Head of Midwifery atthe University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust, said: “On behalf of the Trust, I’d like to pass on sincere condolences to Alison and all her family and friends for their devastating loss.

“Alison and all of Hayley Marie’s family and friends have been inspirational, and their dedication and determination to raise funds for the neonatal unit at the RLI has been incredible”.

Sue Smith, Executive Chief Nurse, said: “The incubator will make a real difference and will help to save the lives of many babies for years to come. This is such a wonderful tribute to Hayley Marie’s memory, and I’d like to thank Alison and all of Hayley Marie’s family and friends from the bottom of my heart.”
