A dozen market traders have pledged all funds from a sponsored weight loss to our Save Our Hospice campaign.

Each member of the group from the Festival Market in Morecambe is aiming to lose half a stone by Christmas.

Karen Kay, who runs a card stall on the market, said: “The hospice gives so much support to people at the end of their lives. I’ve got two customers who think it’s the best thing ever.”

Karen herself beat cancer after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in her chest in 2005.

She said: “I always think, I’m here today because somebody gave money.”

We will track Karen and the market traders’ progress in The Visitor over the coming weeks.

Karen’s start weight was 13 stone 11lbs and after three weeks she has lost 4lbs.

Rebecca Cragg from Rebecca’s Cafe has lost 9lbs from her start weight of 13 stone 12lbs.

If you want to sponsor the market traders please contact the Festival Market.
