MORECAMBE band The Heartbreaks are attending tonight’s NME Magazine music awards at the O2 Academy in Brixton.

The indie quartet, whose long-awaited debut album Funtimes hits the shops on May 7, are not nominated for any awards this year. But front man Matthew Whitehouse still tweeted: “On our way to the NME awards. Fingers crossed for a big win after having been snubbed at last week’s Brits.”

Bands performing at the industry showcase include Kasabian, Pulp, Noel Gallagher and Florence and the Machine. Those up for gongs include Arctic Monkeys, Lana Del Rey and Muse.

The ceremony will be shown on Channel 4 on Saturday night at 11.55pm.
