A cancer sufferer who planned to do a charity trek with her friend sadly died before she could take part.

Julia Bradley and her friend Lucy Farrell had planned to undertake a charity trek in September 2012 to Machu Picchu in Peru at a point when things appeared to be going well for Julia, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2011.

Sadly at the start of 2012 it became obvious this was not going to be possible and Julia passed away in September 2012.

Lucy’s dad Colin Gannon stepped up to trek in Julia’s place to raise much needed funds for St John’s Hospice in Lancaster. They provide palliative care to those with life-limiting conditions.

They provide a caring, supportive environment for the patients and their families allowing people to retain their dignity.

Lucy said: “Julia has been one of the most inspirational people in my life and I will be proud to go and achieve this goal with my dad that she set out for us to do together.

“If anyone would like to sponsor us to help raise vital funds for St John’s Hospice, please visit our Just Giving Page, www.justgiving.com/julia-bradley0.

“We don’t care how much you donate; whatever you can afford because every penny literally makes a difference.”
