A charity Zumbathon has been organised to help raise funds for a new centre of excellence for disabled kids.

Heysham resident Emily Wilson is organising the Zumbathon in aid of Unique Kidz and Co.

Emily works for the NHS in the Lancaster community, and was professional dancer.

The Zumbathon will take place on Friday, August9, between 6pm and 9pm at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre. Emily said: “Each year Emma does a charity Zumbathon event and we in her classes get to choose which charity we will raise funds for.

“In the past we have held Zumbathons for large national charities like Children in Need.

“I suggested doing this year’s event to raise funds for Unique Kidz and Co because I know they are a great local charity which really supports disabled children and their families.

“There isn’t a charity like them in the area and I have worked with disabled children in previous jobs so I understand how hard it is for families to get suitable childcare.

“When I heard that Unique Kidz and Co have just started fundraising for a new centre in Lancaster I really wanted to help them.”

Over 200 people are expected to attend the Zumbathon which is open to everyone.

Sainsbury’s Morecambe, which has chosen Unique Kidz and Co as its Charity of the Year, will be providing bottled water for all those taking part to keep everyone hydrated for the challenge!

The cost for the Zumbathon is £3 per person and all proceeds will go to Unique Kidz and Co.
