Harry Mason, five, of Sunnybank Road, Bolton-le-Sands, managed to raise £501 for the Bolton-le-Sands community playground project by running round Silverdale cricket pitch.

The children of Bolton-le-Sands School took part in a sponsored swim, which has raised up to now, £123, and members of the BLS community completed a nine mile cross bay walk which raised £621.

Emma Bousfield, BLS community playground project committee member, said: “ Thanks also to local businesses who have made some very generous donations of £5000, £200 and £100, which will go a long way to helping us reach our target and start work.

“Finally could we thank individuals who gave their time and talents to support our family BBQ, including David Spowart, Lyndsey Brown, Amy Jo Clough, Megan Stanford, Paul Walsh, Rich Winham, Wuz Wallis, Jamie Brown, Hilary Farquharson, Holly Stringfellow, Phil Spur, Chris Dyson, Micheal Walker, and everyone else involved.”

The community playground project was formed to raise funds to redevelop the village playground where the equipment is aging and the design is dated.
