A SUSPICIOUS package found in a skip was gunpowder, police have said.
Police and the fire service were called to Salt Ayre Household Waste Centre in Lancaster at 12.10pm today, Thursday, after reports that a worker had found a package.
A 100 metre cordon was set up and staff were evacuated from the area whilst the package was examined.
The Fire Service removed the package from the site and disposed of it safely.
The bomb disposal team were not called out.
The cordon was lifted by 1.30pm.
