LANCASTER’S Grand Theatre has enjoyed its best ever financial year.
Now the popular venue, the third oldest theatre in the country, has announced its lineup for the new 2011/12 season.
The first live show of the season is Bugsy Malone on Friday, August 19 at 7pm.
The Heat Is On, a show on August 31, will celebrate the greatest songs from the greatest musicals and movies, and stars Russ Spencer from Eurovision Song Contest entrants Scooch.
A Variety Night on September 3 will see an evening of singing, music, comedy, juggling and dance, with proceeds going to Help for Heroes and 2246 Carnforth ATC.
A children’s show on September 13 and 14 will feature popular children’s character Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy.
Internationally acclaimed musical comedy duo Worbey and Farrell appear on September 17.
Then Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee and TV panellist Jon Richardson comes home to Lancaster for a standup show on Friday, September 23.
Tribute band Abba Forever are the guests on September 24.
Then an interactive popular Victorian drama Runaway Apprentice will be performed by children and actress Christine Burns on September 27.
TV’s Most Haunted stars Richard Felix and Chris Conway will host an evening of the unexplained, Psychic and Science, on September 29.
The UK’s number one ventriloquist Paul Zerdin is in the house on October 1.
Morecambe Warblers present The Wizard of Oz from October 4 to 8.
This is followed by the Lancaster Footlights’ Bedroom Farce from October 18 to 22.
A night celebrating the music of The Rat Pack comes to the Grand on October 23.
