A HOUSING regeneration scheme in the West End has suffered a new blow.
A bid for £3.9million to resurrect the Chatsworth Gardens development - which collapsed in 2009 - has failed after the funding body said there was no money available.
Now if the scheme is to go ahead, Lancaster City Council will have to stump up the cash.
David Morris MP and council officers recently met with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) in London and were told there was no funding to support regeneration projects.
A council spokesman said: “This decision clearly affects the ability of the council and its partners to progress its priority housing regeneration projects.
There are no other major sources of housing regeneration funds and so council financial support must now be considered.
